ABOUT ME

Christina is an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician with a demonstrated history of working in the veterinary industry, both in clinical practice and in a research setting since 2004. She graduated with honours from Vanier College's Animal Health Technology program (Ville St. Laurent, QC) in 2007 and successfully wrote the VTNE in the same year.

Christina was awarded the Association des Techniciens en Santé Animale du Québec's Prix d'Excellence in 2007 for her early career work at Vanier College promoting equality exotic animal medicine amongst her peers. She returned regularly to Vanier College until 2014 to teach specialty topics in reptile and amphibian care and medicine in both the Animal Health Technology and Ecological Technology curriculums.

She has always had a special interest in exotic animal husbandry and medicine, and later found nutrition (therapeutic and wellness) and critical care medicine as other clinical passions.

She obtained her RLAT in 2008 while working in biomedical research (later retiring this certification in 2014), as well as in a busy general/emergency practice, and studying at university full-time. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) focused in Agricultural and Environmental Science, majored in Applied Zoology from McGill University in 2011. Christina's teaching experience includes designing lectures and wet labs in exotic animal care and medicine as well as in-clinic staff training seminars and written educational materials, and occasional conference presentations.

Currently, she's working towards VTS in Clinical Practice (Exotic Companion Animal). She is the Exotics Department Lead at Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital, the first veterinary practice of its kind in Nova Scotia, Canada.
